Meet Our Board

They started as a Sun City Board Appointed Task Force.  Throughout their year of research, interview and study they became aware of just how daunting a task establishing a service organization of this nature and complexity would be; and how very necessary it was for the residents of their community.  They did not run from the challenge, but embraced it and gathered more people to help.  They are the glue that assembled Staying Connected. 


Holly Field

Holly Field has a B.S. and M.A. from the University of Illinois. She worked in research in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Illinois Medical School and later as a clinical Audiologist.


Board experience includes: Chicago Area Board for the Alzheimer's Association; founding board for Wesley Day Care Center, a community program and founding chair for the auxiliary fundraising arm.   In Sun City, Holly has been Membership Chair of the Creative Retirement Center, Neighborhood Representative, Chair of the Neighborhood Representative Council, Chair of the Publications Committee, and Chair of Lifestyle Changes, the board appointed committee charged with forming Staying Connected.


Phylis Giglinto

Phylis retired after 30+ years in Public Assistance agencies in N.J., including directing both Administrative Analyst and Training and Staff Development Departments. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Policy from Rutgers University and served as an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Social Work. 

Board experience includes: Board of USCB Creative Retirement Center; Board of League of Women Voters of HHI/ Bluffton Area; Vice-Chair, Master Plan Task Force; Chair, Government and Business Affairs Committee; Chair, Resident Communications Committee ; member,  Leadership Development Committee, where chaired  Recognition Planning Program;  appointed by the Board of Directors to the  Social Support Task Force and currently chair the direct services subcommittee of Staying Connected.


Lisbet Duponte

Lisbet Duponte joins the Board with 40 years of leadership roles within the international Sweet Adeline organization.  She was born in Denmark, lived in Sweden before moving to the U.S. in 1985.  Lisbet moved to Sun City in 2013, where she has served as a Neighborhood Representative for 6 years, and served as Vice Chairperson for the Resident Advisory Council.  She is currently the Director of the Sun Tones Chorus in Sun City.


Paul O'Flynn

Paul O’Flynn joins Staying Connected after retiring to Sun City in 2018 following a successful career as an executive in Healthcare related organizations including the Cook County Hospital, the University of Chicago Hospitals, and as the CEO of he Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates.  Paul has served on multiple profit and non-profit boards including:  The Kentucky Hospital Insurance Corp; Lifenet Health; St. John Center for Homeless Men; Seven Counties Mental Health Services and Goodwill Kentucky.

Sandra (Sandy) Milliken, MSW

Executive Director

Sandy is a seasoned professional who has more than ten years of Executive Director experience in a non-profit setting including Operation Home, Charleston,  SC and Big Brothers Big Sisters in Richmond, VA. She comes to Staying Connected from Summerville, SC where she was in private practice as a Geriatric Care Manager working with older adults and their families.   Sandy holds a B.A. in Human Resources Development and Training, and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of South Carolina.

Vice President

Hugh E. Armstrong

Hugh is a retired executive with 40 years experience in Information Technology, Marketing and Sales with large manufacturing and distribution companies.  He retired as the Sr. Vice President, Chief Information Officer for American Hotel Register Company.  He holds an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, Lake Forest, IL. 


Former Board positions include:  Elected to Wilmot Union High School Board of Education, Wilmot, WI as Vice President and President in separate terms; elected to Wilmot Grade School Board of Education, served as President; was a co-founder and President of the Wilmot Grade School Education Foundation, a 501(3)(c) charity.


Werner E. Rotach, CPA

From 1990 until his retirement in 2007, Werner Rotach has been CEO and a Member of the Board of Directors of Horwath International, an international accounting firm with more than 400 offices worldwide.


Werner is currently a member of the Board and Chairman of the Audit/Finance Committee of Vernay, Inc., a privately owned manufacturing company with operations in the US, Europe and Asia. He is also a member of the Board and chairs the Finance Committee of Smugglers’ Notch Share Owners Association, in Vermont. Prior Board positions include The Swiss Benevolent Society of New York, N.Y.


Bill Teeter

Bill is a former food industry executive with 40 years of broad based corporate experience, including management positions in corporate finance, strategic planning, human resources and information systems.  He has extensive experience in the international arena, much of it in mergers/acquisitions and new business development.  Overseas assignments included South America, Europe and Asia.  Bill retired as Senior Vice President - International at Tyson Foods in 2013.   He has a BS in economics and an MBA degree from Indiana University.


Bill served as Chairman of the Board of Tyson China and Vice Chairman of Godrej Foods, Inc. in Mumbai, India.  He has served on the SCHH Strategic Planning Committee and on the Boards of Directors of Sun City chartered clubs as well as a number of club and community committees. Bill is an officer and member of the Board of Directors of the Sun City/Okatie Lions Club.


Mary O'Brien

Mary O’Brien is a retired corporate manager, working for large corporations including Stanley Works. Her public service includes serving as President, the Warwick RI GFWC Junior Women’s Club.  She currently serves as VP of the GFWC Women’s League of the LowCountry, and on the Board of Directors for the Jasper County Boys and Girls Club.  Mary has served Staying Connected as a volunteer since March, 2013.  She initially served as a Transportation Volunteer, later assuming the role of Transportation Coordinator before assuming her most recent position, as Director of Services.
